Prompt: Rooted Memories

You’re rooting me like a phone.
Clearing away my clutter.
Taking out snapshot memories,
Replacing them with our own.

You examine each and every one,
My past under a microscope.
I wonder if I should refer to you as professor,
You’re eyes and ears sharp.

You’re pushing me to upgrade,
To be the best I can be.
Pushing my limits
Reaching for my breaking point.

My options become endless,
The choice too wide.
My indecisiveness
Lighting up the cracks.

You’ve rooted yourself
In my memories.
Made it clear you’re here to stay.
